Measures reported by PzMemoryTest

Memory exhaustion in cloud controllers may cause an impact to the user experience by adversly affecting the data transfer rates to and from the cloud. The lack of adequate memory space can even lead to poor responsiveness and reduced availability. This inturn can cause critical issues such as inaccesibility of vital data thereby degrading the performance of the storage appliance. Hence, its is very crucial to promptly alert administrators of any possible memory contention before it starts affecting the performance of the appliance. The PzMemoryTest helps administrators in this regard!

This test reports how well the target cloud controller uses the memory available to it, reveals whether adequate free memory is available on the appliance or not, and promptly alerts administrators to abnormal memory usage by the cloud controller.

Outputs of the test: One set of results for the target appliance being monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Total_Memory Indicates the total memory capacity of the target appliance. GB

Used_Memory Indicates the amount of memory that is currently used by the appliance. GB

Free_Memory Indicates the amount of memory that is available for use on the appliance. GB

Memory_Usage Indicates the percentage of memory utilized by the appliance. Percent

If the value of this measure is close to 100%, it is indicative of a memory bottleneck.
