Measures reported by CogMonitorTest The Monitor service is responsible for monitoring non-interactive tasks and managing history objects in the content store. The monitoring service updates histories in the event of a catastrophic server failure. The monitoring service is also used to monitor tasks that are run in the background by the user for batch completion. Unlike many of the other services, the monitoring service is not responsible for running a task. Requests to run tasks that are sent to the monitoring service are forwarded to the service that can run the specified task. The monitoring service updates the appropriate history object based on the response from the service that is running the task. If this service is unavailable or fails to service requests, then, history objects could not be updated in the content store and also non-interactive tasks may pile up. This may affect the performance of other services that are dependent on the history objects and tasks. To ensure that all the history objects are up to date and the tasks are executed by other services on time, it is essential for the administrators to monitor the monitoring services periodically. The CogMonitorTest helps administrators in this regard! This test monitors the Monitor Service and reports the current status of the service. This test also throws light on the number of monitoring service requests that were successful/failed. This test helps administrators initiate troubleshooting to determine the reason for request failures and resolve the same at the earliest. Outputs of the test: One set of results for the target IBM Cognos Business Intelligence suite being monitored. The measures made by this test are as follows:
