Measures reported by MLXVPIStatTest
Mellanox now offers the latest technology both for providing its customers with the best available interconnect and for ensuring scalability affordably. Virtual Protocol Interconnect (VPI) allows any port within a switch to run either InfiniBand or Ethernet, and to alternate between the two protocols as necessary. Given the VPI is core component of the Mellanox and allows the administrators to switch the network, it is very important to monitor it so that administrators get a clear view of health and status of VPI.
This test monitors the VPI to collect some of he key statistics like port status, transmission wait etc.
Outputs of the test: One set of results for each switch.
Descriptor: Switch
The measures made by this test are as follows:
| Measurement |
Description |
Measurement Unit |
Interpretation |
| PhyState |
Indicates the current physical state of Infiband port. |
|
The physical state of Infiband port can be denoted by any of the values below.
The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalent are mentioned in the table below:
| Measure Value |

Note:
By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the current status of this fan. The graph of this measure, however, represents the status of the fan using the numeric equivalents only.
|
| LogState |
Indicates the current logical state of Infiband port. |
|
The logical state of Infiband port can be denoted by any of the values below.
The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalent are mentioned in the table below:

By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the current status of this fan. The graph of this measure, however, represents the status of the fan using the numeric equivalents only.
|
| PortTrans |
Indicates the number of ticks before the switch takes place on firing on PortSelect command. |
Number |
If the number of ticks is too high, it may be an indicator or an issue with Mellanox switch.
|
| ErrCnt |
Indicates the total number of minor link errors detected on one or more physical lanes. |
Number |
If the number of errors is too high it may be an indication of either some problem in the network or a problem with the switch.
