Measures reported by HanaBackUpDtTest
To avoid data loss in an environment, it is essential to periodically backup the SAP HANA database. There are 3 types of backups in SAP HANA DATABASE.
This test monitors every backup types in the target database server and reports the current state of the backup, backup throughput, size, and duration. This test also reports the transferred size and percentage of data transferred. By closely monitoring the measures reported by this test, administrators can pin point the backup types that failed or cancelled and the further analyze on why the backup jobs failed and rectify the failure at the earliest.
Outputs of the test: One set of results for every backup type on the target database server being monitored
Descriptor: Summary
The measures made by this test are as follows:
| Measurement |
Description |
Measurement Unit |
Interpretation |
| BackupProgressPercent |
Indicates the percentage of data transferred by this backup type. |
Percent |
Backup completion in progress = (Transferred size/ Backup size( * 100
This measure is not reported for the Summary descriptor.
|
| BackupState |
Indicates the current state of the target backup type. |
|
The values that this measure can report and their corresponding numeric values are discussed in the table below:
| Measure Value |
Numeric Value |
| Failed |
0 |
| Cancelled |
1 |
| Cancel pending |
2 |
| Running |
3 |
| Successful |
4 |
| No backups |
5 |
Note:
By default, this measure reports the Measure Values in the table above to indicate current status of backup type. However, in the graph of this measure, the same is represented using the numeric equivalents only.
|
| BackupSize |
Indicates the total amount of data backed up by this backup type. |
GB |
Use the detailed diagnosis of this measure to know the Backup ID, Host name, Port number, Service name, System start time, System end time, Backup type, Backup size(GB), Transferred Size(GB).
This measure is not reported for the Summary descriptor.
|
| BackupThroughPut |
Indicates the rate at which data is backed up by this backup type. |
GB/Sec |
Ideally, the value of this measure should be high. Compare the value of this measure across the backup types to know which type is the slowest in backing up data.
|
| BackupDuration |
Indicates the average time of prepared statements during the last measurement period. |
Minutes |
This measure is not reported for the Summary descriptor.
|
| TransferedRate |
Indicates the amount of data transferred by this backup type. |
