Measures reported by LVXCPortStatTest

The XClarity Controller uses two network controllers. One network controller is connected to the dedicated management port and the other network controller is connected to the shared port. Each of the network controllers is assigned its own burned in MAC address. If DHCP is being used to assign an IP address to the XClarity Controller, when a user switches between network ports or when a fail-over from the dedicated network port to the shared network port occurs, a different IP address may be assigned to the XClarity Controller by the DHCP server.

The health of Network Adaptor Ports is vital to the commmunication and overall functioning of controller, any issue with ports can affect the ability of controller to communicate.

This test auto-discovers the ports and reports metrics like port number, status and link speed of the port. If administrators find that link status is down or speed is low, then can take corrective actions in timely manner.

Outputs of the test: One set of results for each Network Adaptor port on XClarity Controller.

Descriptor: Network Adaptor

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
portNo Indicates the port number of the port for which measurement is taken. Number

This is the physical port number in the network.

status Indicates the current status of network link of current physical port.

If the status is down, that means all communication on this port is stopped and controller is not able to communicate with server.

The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalents are mentioned in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Down 0
Up 1

Note:

By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the current status of this fan. The graph of this measure, however, represents the status of the fan using the numeric equivalents only.

speed Indicates the current speed oof the port during the measurement period. Gbps

If the speed of the port is too low, there may be some issue with either port or network which needs to be investigated.
