Configure Layout - Quick Insight
This page allows the users to create a new Qucik Insight view, and configure its layout. This page appears when the Add New button in the QUICK INSIGHT VIEWS page is clicked, or when the New View hyperlink in the ‘no view’ message is clicked.
To create a custom view, first, provide a Name for the view.
A custom view consists of three ingredients. They are:
- Tiers: A custom view is divided into broad sections known as tiers. A tier can be based on geography or it can match the infrastructure tiers (for eg., the database tier, the web server tier) or it can even be a service or a segment. While configuring the layout of your view using this page, specify the No. of Tiers that your view should constitute. A maximum of 15 tiers can be configured.
- Servers:Each tier comprises of one or more servers. Typically, the critical servers in the monitored infrastructure are added to a tier. In the No. of Servers/Tier text box in this page, specify the number of servers that you intend adding to a tier. A maximum of 15 servers can be added.
- Metrics: These are the key performance statistics that need to be extracted from every component in a tier. You can configure the number of measures that your layout should support by providing a number in the No. of Metrics/Server text box in this page. Here again, the maximum limit of 15 prevails.
- Sharing: To facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing among administrators, eG now allows users the flexibility to share useful quick insight views they create with other users. For sharing a view, you need to first set a share type by selecting the desired option from the Sharing list box. The options are as follows:
Upon clicking, you will be able to view the layout that you just designed in the QUICK INSIGHT DESIGN VIEW page. To take a look at the complete list of views, click on the
icon at the right top corner of the QUICK INSIGHT DESIGN VIEW page. The QUICK INSIGHT VIEWS page will then appear displaying all the existing views, including the newly added view. Clicking on the icon against the new view in that page, will bring you back to this page, using which the layout can be modified. In the Modify mode, you will not be allowed to change the Name of the view. However, additionally, a icon will appear in the Modify mode, which when clicked, will allow you to delete the layout.
