Measures reported by AlcLucPortStTest

Ports again are very important to send and receive data through the network. If any of the ports are not functioning or not working properly, it means at least one of the devices has lost connectivity, which can again have serious consequences. This is the reason it is absolutely necessary all ports are monitored for potentials issues and the administrator is fully aware if and when any fault occurs in any of the ports so that preventive actions can be taken and none of the connected devices lose connectivity.

This test auto-discovers all the ports of the target Alcatel-Lucent switch, and reports statistics for each port. Using this test, administrators can identify if there is a port malfunction or if there is a problem with incoming or outgoing data through the port. By taking corrective actions, administrators can help in avoiding problems from cascading through the network. All the measures are reported for each port in the switch.

Outputs of the test : One set of results for each module on the switch to be monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
portStatus Indicates the current status of the each port. String The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalent are mentioned in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Up 1
Down 2
Shutdown 3
Note:

By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the current status of this fan. The graph of this measure, however, represents the status of the fan using the numeric equivalents only.

currCRCErr Indicates the current number of CRC errors on this port. Errors
currLinkErr Indicates the sum of all the MAC Errors within the current time window. Errors
totalLinkErr Indicates the total number of link errors across all the time windows. Errors
ioUtilize Indicates the average port-level I/O utilization over the last minute. Percent
