Measures reported by MLXCPUSensorTest

CPU is core component of any electronic device and if there is too much load for too long or if cooling is not working he CPU can get heated. If the CPU temperature goes beyond a certain point it can affect the CPU performance and in worst case can burn the CPU circuits. That's the reason it is important for admnistrators to keep an eye on CPY temperature, and take an action if CPU is overheated.

This test monitors the CPU temperature by reading the CPU temperature sensor value and operational status, keeping an eye on this administrators will have enough time to act if CPU is heating.

Outputs of the test: One set of result for each CPU sensor in Mallanox switch.

Descriptor: CPU sensor

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
SensorValue Indicates the temperature sensor value to denote the current temperature of CPU. Celcius

If the temperature is higher than tolerance limit, the switch needs to shut down to save it from burning CPU circuits.

OperationalStatus Indicates the operational status of temperature sensor to denote if the sensor is working or not.

The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalent are mentioned in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Ok 1
Unavailable 2
Non operational 3

Note:

By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the current status of this fan. The graph of this measure, however, represents the status of the fan using the numeric equivalents only.
