Measures reported by CisNexusProcessTest

For each process in the software module of the target Cisco Nexus Switch, this test reports the CPU and memory utilization. Using this test, administrators can easily identify the process that is over-utilizing the CPU and memory resources of the Cisco Nexus Switch.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
CPU_usage Indicates the percentage of CPU utilized by this process. Percent A low value is desired for this measure. A high value or a gradual increase in the value would result in a CPU utilization bottleneck where other processes are made to wait longer for the CPU resources.
Allocated_memory Indicates the amount of memory allocated to this process. MB
Used_memory Indicates the amount of memory that is currently utilized by this process. MB A sudden/gradual increase in the value of this measure is a cause of concern. If the resource utilization of the process is consistently high, then it may stall other processes of the Cisco Nexus Switch as well. Administrators should therefore constantly monitor the resource utilization of each of the processes and add additional resources to the processes then and there to avoid malfunctioning of the Cisco Nexus Switch.
Free_memory Indicates the amount of memory that is still available for use by this process. MB A high value is desired for this measure.
Memory_usage Indicates the percentage of memory utilized by this process. Percent A low value is desired for this measure.
