Measures reported by RSAAuthRequestTest

By continuously tracking the flow of authentication requests to the RSA Authentication Manager appliance, this test reveals the following:

  • Number of authentication requests serviced per second

  • Rate at which the number of authentication requests were processed successfully

  • Rate at which the authentication requests were failed on the appliance

  • Number of packets received by and transmitted from the appliance per second and,

  • How quickly the authentication requests were processed by the appliance.

Using these statistics, administrators can easily figure out the reasons behind the processing bottle-neck in the appliance, can isolate the authentication requests related issues and can fix those issues quickly.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Avg_total_request Indicates the rate at which the authentication requests were serviced by the appliance. Requests/Sec
Avg_success_request Indicates the rate at which the authentication requests were serviced successfully by the appliance. Requests/Sec A high value is desired for this measure.
Avg_failed_request Indicates the rate at which the authentication requests were failed on the appliance. Requests/Sec The value 0 is desired for this measure. Further investigation is required if a non-zero value is reported by this measure.
Avg_packets_processed Indicates the rate at which the packets were processed by the appliance. Packets/Sec
Avg_time Indicates the average time taken by the appliance to process authentication requests and responses. Milliseconds A low value is desired for this measure. A high value of this measure indicates that the appliance took too long to process the authentication requests.
