Measures reported by NSUsersTest
At any given point in time, administrators should be in a position to identify the number of users accessing the NetScaler device and the number of sessions initiated by them. This numerical statistics is not only a good measure of the current load on the NetScaler device but also an efficient pointer to identify the users who are contributing to the workload by initiating multiple sessions. In addition, administrators will be pinpointed to the number of applications launched by each user using the ICA sessions using which they can figure out the applications that are widely used by the users. To identify the current workload and the future workload seamlessly, administrators can use the NSUsersTest test.
For each user connected to the NetScaler device, this test indicates the number of sessions intiated including the ICA sessions, mobile sessions and AAA sessions. This way, administrators can be alerted to the currently workload imposed by each user on the NetScaler device and enable them to to gauge the future load as well by reporting the count of applications that were launched by each user through ICA sessions and the applications that were terminated. In the process, this test will also throw light on the applications that are widely used by the users as well as the sessions that were logged out.
For this test to run and report metrics, the NetScaler device should be configured to create a Syslog file in a remote Syslog server, where the details of all interactions with the NetScaler appliance will be logged. To know how to configure the Syslog server where this Syslog file should be created, Click here.
Outputs of the test : One set of results for each user connected to the NetScaler appliance that is being monitored
The measures made by this test are as follows:
| Measurement |
Description |
Measurement Unit |
Interpretation |
| totUserSessions |
Indicates the total number of sessions initiated by this user. |
Number |
This measure is a good indicator on the load of the NetScaler appliance. |
| ICASessions |
Indicates the number of ICA sessions initiated by this user on the NetScaler appliance. |
Number |
Comparing the value of this measure across the users will help you in identifying the user who has launched the maximum number of ICA sessions.
The detailed diagnosis of this measure if enabled lists the Client IP, Client Type, vServer IP, vServer Port and the type of the browser through which the session was initiated. |
| mobileSessions |
Indicates the number of mobile sessions initiated by this user on the NetScaler appliance. |
Number |
Compare the value of this measure across the users to identify the user who has launched the maximum number of mobile sessions. |
| AAASessions |
Indicates the number of AAA sessions initiated by this user on the NetScaler appliance. |
Number |
Compare the value of this measure across the users to identify the user who has intiated the maximum number of AAA sessions. |
| ICAAppLaunches |
Indicates the number of times applications were launched through ICA sessions by this user on the NetScaler appliance. |
Number |
Compare the value of this measure across users to identify the user who has launched the maximum number of applications through ICA sessions. |
| ICAAppTerminates |
Indicates the number of times applications were terminated through the ICA sessions by this user on the NetScaler appliance. |
Number |
Compare the value of this measure across users to identify the user who has terminated the maximum number of applications through ICA sessions. |
| HttpAccessDenied |
Indicates whether/not the HTTP resource access was denied to this user by the policy engine on the NetScaler appliance. |
Number |
The values reported by this measure and its corresponding numeric values have been listed in the table below:
| Measure Value |
Numeric Value |
| Yes |
1 |
| No |

Note:
By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values while indicating whether the HTTP resource access was denied or not. However, in the graph of this measure, the Measure Values will be represented using their corresponding numeric equivalents only.

| loggedOut |
Indicates the number of session logouts recorded for this user on the NetScaler appliance. |
