Measures reported by VMDsktopStatusTest

When users to virtual machines complain of inaccessibility, View administrators need to quickly figure out which virtual machines are inaccessible, which desktop pool each VM belongs to, and what is causing the inaccessibility – is it because the VM is in the maintenance mode? Or is it owing to any other reason? The VMDsktopStatusTest helps administrators with this. For each desktop pool managed by VMware View, this test reports the count of inaccessible VMs, VMs with errors, VMs that are in the maintenance mode, and VMs that have been marked for deletion. The detailed diagnosis of this test lists the names of VMs in each of these operational states. This way, the test enables administrators to accurately identify which VM is in which state presently and why.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
readyState Indicates the number of VMs in this pool that are currently accessible. Number
errorState Indicates the number of VMs in this pool that are currently inaccessible. Number If the value of this measure is greater than 0, it indicates the one/more virtual machines are not accessible. In such a case, you can use the detailed diagnosis capability of this measure to know which virtual machines are inaccessible.
mtainState Indicates the number of VMs in this pool that are currently in the maintenance mode. Number If the value of this measure is greater than 0, it indicates that one/more virtual machines are in the maintenance mode. Users cannot log in or use the virtual machine that is in the maintenance mode. In such a case, you can use the detailed diagnosis capability of this measure to know which VMs are currently in the maintenance mode.
delState Indicates the number of VMs in this pool that have been marked for deletion. Number If the value of this measure is greater than 0, it indicates that one/more virtual machines in the pool have been marked for deletion. The View Manager will delete such virtual machines soon. In such a case, you can use the detailed diagnosis capability of this measure to know which VMs will be deleted soon.
errPercent Indicates the percentage of VMs in this pool that are inaccessible. Percent If the value of this measure is greater than 0, it indicates the one/more virtual machines are not accessible. In such a case, you can use the detailed diagnosis capability of this measure to know which virtual machines are inaccessible.
