Measures reported by IbmStorwizePowerStsTest

Each IBM Storwize V7000 system has one or two (optional) control enclosures that contain two node canisters each, disk drives, and two power supplies. A failure of any of these power supplies can prove to be fatal to the storage system as a whole. Administrators hence need to be promptly alerted to such failures, so that corrective action can be taken immediately.

The IbmStorwizePowerStsTest test captures sudden changes in the state of the each of the power supplies and brings it to the attention of the administrators immediately, so that the problem can be redressed before any permanent damage is done.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
status Indicates the current status of this Power Supply Unit in this Control enclosure.   This measure reports any of the following values:

  • offline
  • online
  • degraded

    • The numeric values that correspond to the above-mentioned measure values are as follows:

    Measure Value Numeric Value Description
    offline 0 The Power Supply Unit cannot be detected.
    online 1 The Power Supply Unit is present and working normally.
    degraded 2 The Power Supply Unit is present but not working normally.

    Note:

    By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values while indicating the status of this Power Supply Unit. However, the graph of this measure will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents of the Measure Values as mentioned in the table above.
