Default Parameters for FileExist Test

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the FileExist test.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • In the PATH text box, specify the path to the core dump files to be monitored. The path needs to be mentioned in the following format: FormatName:FileName@FilePath. FormatName is the unique name assigned to the path-format being specified. This user-defined name appears alongside the test name in the monitor interface. FileName refers to the name of the core dump file to be monitored. FilePath refers to the path to the specified core dump file. For eg., the PATH can be specified as follows: CoreDump1:Cdump@ /usr/dump.

  • Here:

CoreDump1 is the unique name assigned to the format being specified

Cdump is the name of the core dump file to be monitored

/usr/dump is the directory in which Cdump resides.

Now, in the above example, if all the core dump files with the string “core” in the file name are to be monitored, then the format would be:

    CoreDump1:*core*@/usr/dump

While providing multiple path-formats, ensure that each format is separated by a comma.

  • If the RECURSIVE flag is set to Yes, then eG will search even the sub-directories within the specified directory for the log file to be monitored. If this flag is set to No, then eG will search only the specified directory.

  • Once the necessary values have been provided, clicking on the UPDATE button will register the changes made.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with "$" indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. E.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to "xyz" and $port will be changed to "80" when configuring a test.
