Default Parameters for MsSqlTransTest

The MsSqlTransTest reports the number of transactions active in an instance of the Database Engine, and the effects of those transactions on resources such as the snapshot isolation row version store in tempdb.

Note: This test reports measures only for MSSQL Server version 2005 and above.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the MsSqlTransTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • In the INSTANCE text box, enter the name of a specific MS SQL instance that is to be monitored. The default value of this parameter is "default". To monitor an MS SQL instance named "CFS", enter this as the value of the INSTANCE parameter.

  • By default, the SSL flag is set to No, indicating that the target MS SQL server is not SSL-enabled by default. To enable the test to connect to an SSL-enabled MS SQL server, set the SSL flag to Yes.

  • If the ISPASSIVE parameter is set to YES, then it means that all managed MS SQL servers are passive servers in a SQL cluster. No alerts will be generated if the servers are not running. Measures will be reported as "Not applicable" by the agent if the servers are not up.

  • Once the aforesaid values are provided, click on the UPDATE button to register the changes made.
