Component Administration - Topology

List of Segments

This page is obtained by selecting the Segments option from the Infrastructure menu. The infrastructure topology is typically comprised of one or more segments. A segment is a logical entity that represents a collection of components and the interdependencies between them. Segments can be chosen to represent user groups, organizational domains, or physical locations in the target environment. For example, the topology of a banking environment may include two segments – one representing all the components in the bank’s NY branch and another representing the bank’s CA branch. This page lists all the fully-configured segments in the target environment.

  • A new segment can be added by using the Add New Segment button available at the top.

  • The topology of any segment can be modified by choosing the Modify button present beside each segment.

  • To delete a segment, first mark the segment for deletion by selecting the check box corresponding to it. Then, click on the Delete button on the top/bottom of the segment list. To mark all the displayed segments for deletion, click on the Select all button on the top/bottom of the segment list, and to deselect all chosen segments, click on the Deselect all button.

If a large number of segments have been configured, locating the segment to be modified/deleted would become quiet a challenge. This page therefore allows you to quickly search for a segment, by first specifying the whole/part of the segment name in the Search text box, and then clicking the right-arrow button next to the text box. All segments with names that embed the specified string will then appear.
