Tests pertaining to a WebLogic server

This page depicts the list of tests associated with a WebLogic server. A different component type can be chosen if required from the Select a component type list box.

  • The WebLogicTest tracks the rate of requests processed by the server, the number of requests waiting for processing, and the percentage of heap usage by the server by using the WebLogic server’s SNMP interface. While the rate of requests processed and the number of queued requests can be indicative of performance problems with the WebLogic server, the percentage heap usage can be indicative of the reason for the problem.

  • The WebLogicEjbTest monitors the state of specific EJB components hosted on a WebLogic server 6.0 or higher using JMX. This test will be disabled by default, and has been included only to ensure backward compatibility with previous versions of eG.

  • The WLThreadTest reports performance statistics pertaining to threads in a WebLogic server 6.0 or higher.

  • The WLSecurityTest extracts security-related statistics from a managed WebLogic server that is part of a cluster.

  • The WLJTATest extracts transaction-related statistics from a managed WebLogic server.

  • The WLJMSTest generates performance statistics pertaining to the Java Message Service (JMS) provided by the WebLogic server.

  • The WLConnectorTest extracts connector related statistics from a managed WebLogic server.

  • The WLClusterTest extracts cluster related statistics from a managed WebLogic server that is part of a cluster.

  • The WLServletTest periodically tracks the servlets invoked and reloaded, and measures the minimum, maximum, and average response times of a specific server instance.

  • The WLEJBCacheTest collects measures related to the EJB caching activity of the WebLogic server

  • The WLEJBLockTest collects measures related to the EJB locking activity of the WebLogic server.

  • The WLEJBPoolTest reports measures related to the bean pooling activity of the WebLogic server.

  • The WLEJBTransTest collects measures related to the EJB transaction activity performed by the WebLogic server.

  • The WLJDBCTest reports measures related to the JDBC pools created on the WebLogic server.

  • The JdbcStatsTest collects measures like how many JDBC queries have been executed, how long those queries took to execute and what those statements are.

  • The JVMGCTest reports the performance statistics pertaining to the JVM's garbage collection.

  • The WebLogicJdbcTest measures statistics pertaining to the JDBC database connection pools in use by the WebLogic server. This test will be disabled by default, and has been included only to ensure backward compatibility with previous versions of eG.

  • The ProcessTest measures statistics pertaining to one or more processes corresponding to the WebLogic server.

  • The TcpPortStatusTest tracks various statistics pertaining to TCP connections to and from a host, from an external perspective.

  • The TcpTest tracks various statistics pertaining to TCP connections to and from a host.

  • The NetworkTest monitors the network connectivity between a host and the eG manager.

  • The NetworkTrafficTest measures the traffic received and transmitted by a host system via each of its network interfaces.

  • The SystemTest is an operating-system specific test that collects various metrics pertaining to the CPU and memory usage of a host.

  • The DiskTest periodically monitors the health of each disk partition of a host. This test has been included only to ensure backward compatibility with previous versions of eG. Therefore, by default, this test will be disabled.

  • The DiskActivityTest reports statistics pertaining to the input/output utilization of every disk partition on a system.

  • The DiskSpaceTest monitors the space utilization of every disk partition on a system.

The required tests can be selected by enabling the check boxes available beside the tests. The CONFIGURE DEFAULT button beside each test enables user to configure the default parameters pertaining to the test. The parameter values for the tests can be modified for specific servers using the CONFIGURE / COMPONENT button. The UPDATE button as always helps the users to register the changes made.
