Configuration of Db2DPFWrLdTest

This test reports the resource usage and execution time of the top queries and promptly alerts administrators if any query consumes more resources or takes more time to execute than it should. In such a scenario, administrators can use the detailed diagnosis of this test to view the inefficient queries and proceed to optimize them to enhance server performance.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the Db2DPFWrLdTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • In the HOST text box, specify the IP address of the DB2 server in this text box.

  • In the PORT text box, specify the port at which the target host is listening. The default port is 50000.

  • In the USER text box, specify the name of the user who has any of the following privileges to the specified DATABASE: SYSADM or SYSCTRL or SYSMAINT or SYSMON. You can create a separate user on the OS hosting the DB2 server for this purpose, and assign any of the aforesaid privileges to that user. The steps for the same are detailed in the Creating a Special User for Monitoring DB2.

  • In the PASSWORD text box, specify the password of the user and confirm the password by retyping it in the CONFIRMPASSWORD text box.

  • In the DATABASE text box, specify the name of the database on the monitored DB2 server to be used by this test

  • By default, the detailed diagnosis of this test, if enabled, will report only the top-5 records. This is why, the DD Row Count parameter is set to 5 by default. If you want to include more or less records in detailed diagnosis, then change the value of this parameter accordingly.

  • To make diagnosis more efficient and accurate, the eG Enterprise embeds an optional detailed diagnostic capability. With this capability, the eG agents can be configured to run detailed, more elaborate tests as and when specific problems are detected. To enable the detailed diagnosis capability of this test for a particular server, choose the On option. To disable the capability, click on the Off option.

  • The option to selectively enable/disable the detailed diagnosis capability will be available only if the following conditions are fulfilled:

    • The eG manager license should allow the detailed diagnosis capability

    • Both the normal and abnormal frequencies configured for the detailed diagnosis measures should not be 0.

  • Once the above values are provided, click on the UPDATE button to register the changes made.

When changing the configuration for specific servers, a “*” beside the text box corresponding to the parameter signifies that these values have to be manually configured by the user. The parameter values that require to be configured will typically be prefixed with a “$” or contain a series of “*”. A value of “none” in the parameter value indicates that the corresponding parameter value can be changed if required.
