Agents Administration - Tests

Default Parameters for MsXMailTest

The MsXMailTest emulates a client connecting to a Microsoft Exchange server and sending/receiving mails. Perform the following tasks prior to configuring the MsXMailTest:

  • Ensure that the external agent executing the MsXMailTest resides on a Windows NT server/client platform in the same domain as the MS Exchange server 5.5

  •  Verify whether the external agent’s install user has a user account (mailbox) in the MS Exchange server 5.5. If not, create a user account for that user.

  • Check whether the eGurkhaAgent service that gets installed with the external agent uses the external agent’s install user name. If not, make sure that it does.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the MsXMailest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • In the XCHGMAILBOXNAME text box, specify the user name or the user ID of your user mail box on the Exchange server that is to be used for this test.

  • Specify the name of the site on which your user mailbox resides in the XCHGSITENAME text box.

  • Enter the name of the organization under which the specified site has been defined in the XCHGORGNAME text box.

  • Once the necessary values have been provided, click on the UPDATE button tol register the changes made.

Note:
  • The eG external agent that is executing the MsXMailTest, should be installed on a Windows NT server/client in the same domain as the Exchange 5.5 server.

  •  The administrator configuring the test should ensure that the mailbox being used in the test, exists on the Exchange 5.5 server.>

  • The eGurkhaAgent service should run using the account information of the user whose mailbox has been configured for the MsXMailTest.

Note:

You can find out the names of the site, and the organization of the user mail box configured for the test, by opening the Microsoft Exchange Administrator window. This can be opened using the menu sequence:  Start -> Programs -> Microsoft Exchange -> Microsoft Exchange Administrator. A sample Administrator Window has been given below.
