Default Parameters for IGELDiskSpaceTest

This test monitors the space usage of every disk partition on an IGEL Endpoint.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the IGELDiskSpaceTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • To obtain the ‘inside view’ of performance of the IGEL Endpoints - i.e., to measure the internal performance of the IGEL Endpoints - this test uses a light-weight Endpoint Agent software deployed on each of the IGEL Endpoints. The Endpoint Agents collect performance metrics from the IGEL Endpoints and communicate the metrics to the eG remote agent using TCP protocol. Accordingly, by default, INSIDE VIEW USING parameter is set to TCP.

  • Since this test runs for an ‘IGEL Endpoints’ component, REPORT BY USER flag is set to Yes by default.

  • Since this test runs for an ‘IGEL Endpoints’ component, REPORT POWERED OS flag is set to Yes by default.

  • Since this test runs for an ‘IGEL Endpoints’ component, IS CLOUD VMS flag is set to Yes by default.

  • Against EXCLUDE parameter, you can provide a comma-separated list of disk partitions that you want to exclude from the scope of monitoring. For example, you can use this parameter to exclude temporary partitions that the target IGEL Endpoint creates from monitoring.

  • Once the necessary values have been provided, clicking on the UPDATE button will register the changes made.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with “$” indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. E.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to “xyz*” and $port will be changed to “80” when configuring a test.
