Default Parameters for SaaSNetworkTest

This is an external test that emulates a network-level ping to the cloud-based Exchange server and reports whether/not network connectivity to the server is available, and if so, how responsive the server is to network requests. In the process, the test reveals any break or slowness in the network connection to the Exchange Online service.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the SaaSNetworkTest test.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • In the HOST text box, specify the host for which the test is to be configured. By default, this is portal.office.com

  • In the PACKET SIZE textbox, the size of packets used for the test (in bytes) is specified.

  • In the PACKET COUNT textbox, the number of packets to be transmitted during the test is specified.

  • The TIMEOUT textbox specifies how long after transmission should a packet be deemed lost (in seconds).

  • The PACKET INTERVAL represents the interval (in milliseconds) between successive packet transmissions during the execution of the network test for a specific target.

  • By default, this is set to outlook.office.com. This test will emulate a network-level ping to this target only.

  • Once the above values are provided, click on the UPDATE button to register the changes made.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with “$” indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. E.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to “xyz*” and $port will be changed to “80” when configuring a test.
