Measures reported by VMStatsTest

The VMStatsTest reports the CPU, memory, disk and network performance statistics of the VMWare guests running on the VMWare Server.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Availability Whether the VMWare guest is available or not Percent If this measure reports 0, it indicates that the VMWare guest is not running or that it is not reachable from the VirtualCenter host.
Cpu_util The percentage of CPU utilized by the VMWare guest, aggregated across processors Percent A high value could signify a CPU bottleneck. The CPU utilization may be high because a few processes are consuming a lot of CPU, or because there are too many processes contending for a limited resource.
System_cpu_util The percentage of CPU spent on system-level processing, aggregated across processors Percent An unusually high value indicates a problem and may be due to too many system-level tasks executing simultaneously.
Wait_time_util The percentage of CPU wait time spent, aggregated across processors Percent
Active_memory The actively used memory MB
Granted_memory The current memory allocation MB
Disk_reads The aggregate rate at which data is read from across disk partitions Kbps
Disk_writes The aggregate rate at which data is written to the disk partitions Kbps
Input_traffic The aggregate rate of incoming traffic on the VMWare guest Kbps
Output_traffic The aggregate rate of outbound traffic on the VMWare guest Kbps
