eG Monitoring

Measures reported by PPCBatOutStTest

Battery is at the core of any UPS and the voltage and frequency of output current provide key insights about battery health. This test monitors battery periodically and provides key statistics like load on the battery, output voltage and frequency which help administrators get a view of battery health and it allows them to take corrective action before the battery fails.

Outputs of the test: One set of results for the PPC UPS monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
voltStatus Indicates the current state of the UPS based on whether it is providing any voltage output.

The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalent are mentioned in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Unknown 1
Online 2
On battery 3
On boost 4
Sleeping 5
On bypass 6
Rebooting 7

Note:

By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the current status of this fan. The graph of this measure, however, represents the status of the fan using the numeric equivalents only.

voltTrans Indicates the current output voltage of the UPS system expressed in 1/10 V. Volts

Expected value of output voltage denotes that the battery is working properly. In case the voltage value is less than expected, it would mean that battery has started deteriorating and can fail.

voltFreq Indicates the current output voltage frequency of the UPS system expressed in 1/10 Hz. Hertz

Expected value of output voltage frequency denotes that the battery is working properly. In case the voltage frequency value is less than expected, it would mean that battery has started deteriorating and can fail.

upsLoad Indicates the current load on UPS as a percentage of maximum load it can bear. Percentage

The load should be managed properly and should not go beyond a certain threshold. If the load kept increasing despite the warnings, it would cause the UPS system to fail.
