Measures reported by HanaBckUpStsTest

Database backups are very important in an environment as these backups will help administrators recover the data at a faster pace in case of failures such database failures, system crashes, hardware failures or if users delete data accidentally. Frequent backup failures can cause data non-sync and increase the risk of data loss when disaster strikes. Therefore, it is essential for the administrators to closely monitor how well backups are performed in a SAP HANA database server.

This test helps administrators figure out the count of backups that failed and the count of backups that were completed successfully. In addition, this test reveals the count of backups that are currently running, cancelled, and broken in the target environment. Using the detailed diagnosis offered by this test, administrators can identify the backup type that is responsible for more backup failures.

Outputs of the test: One set of results for the target database server instance being monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
SuccessfulBackups Indicates the total number of backups that were successful. Number

The detailed diagnosis of this measure lists Backup ID, Start time, End time, Source ID, Host Name, Redo Log Position, Reason, Duration(in seconds), Backup Type, and Service Type.

FailedBackups Indicates the number of backups that failed. Number

The detailed diagnosis of this measure lists Backup ID, Start time, End time, Source ID, Host Name, Redo Log Position, Reason, Duration(in seconds), Backup Type, and Service Type.

RunningBackups Indicates the number of backups that are currently running. Number

The detailed diagnosis of this measure lists Backup ID, Start time, End time, Source ID, Host Name, Redo Log Position, Reason, Duration(in seconds), Backup Type, and Service Type.

CancelPendingBackups Indicates the number of cancel pending backups. Number

If you cancel a running data backup that is waiting for other resources, the cancellation is postponed until the cause of the wait situation has been resolved. Until that time, the backup is flagged as cancel pending.

The detailed diagnosis of this measure lists Backup ID, Start time, End time, Source ID, Host Name, Redo Log Position, Reason, Duration(in seconds), Backup Type, and Service Type.

CancelBackups Indicates the number of backups that are cancelled. Number

The detailed diagnosis of this measure lists Backup ID, Start time, End time, Source ID, Host Name, Redo Log Position, Reason, Duration(in seconds), Backup Type, and Service Type.

BrokenBackups Indicates the number of backups that are broken. Number

The detailed diagnosis of this measure lists Backup ID, Start time, End time, Source ID, Host Name, Redo Log Position, Reason, Duration(in seconds), Backup Type, and Service Type.
