Measures reported by IBMDPEnvtSensorTest
The IBM Datapower device contains power supply and temperature sensors to monitor its power and temperature. Failure of any of these sensors can bring the device operations to a halt. Administrators need to be able to promptly detect sensor failures and take corrective actions before any permanent damage is done. The IBMDPEnvtSensorTest can help administrators in this regard. This test monitors the status of these sensors, and also promptly captures and reports real/potential sensor failures.
Outputs of the test : One set of results for the target device being monitored.
The measures made by this test are as follows:
| Measurement |
Description |
Measurement Unit |
Interpretation |
| System_temp |
Indicates the current temperature of the system. |
Celsius |
Ideally, the temperature of the system must be within normal limits i.e., 0 - 40 degree Celsius. A sudden/gradual increase in the temperature is a cause of concern which needs to be probed immediately so that malfunctioning of the system can be averted. |
| Cpu1_temp |
Indicates the current temperature of this CPU recorded by the temperature sensor. |
Number |
The values of these measures should be within a permissible range. A significant rise/drop in the values of these measures can cause damage to the core components of the appliance. |
| Cpu2_temp |
Indicates the current temperature of this CPU recorded by the temperature sensor. |
Number |
| Powersupply |
Indicates the current state of the power supply. |
|
The values reported by this measure and their numeric equivalents are available in the table below:
| Measure Value |
Numeric Value |
| Ok |
1 |
| Power-1 failure |
2 |
| Power-2 failure |
3 |
| Power-1 ac-lost |
4 |
| Power-2 ac-lost |
5 |
Note:
By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values to indicate the current state of the power supply. In the graph of this measure however, the same is represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only. |
