Measures reported by CtxNsSystemLogTest

When an error or event occurs on the NetScaler appliance, administrators should determine what caused the error or how the event was generated, attempt to recover any lost data, and prevent errors from recurring. To help administrators in this, important events/errors, such as system failures, changes in configuration,  excessive resource utilization etc are recorded in a log file. Administrators can use the log to determine what was the root-cause of the errors and identify the context in which they occurred. By periodically viewing the log, administrators may be able to identify problems (such as system failures) before they cause irreparable damage. To aid administrators in the process, eG Enterprise offers the CtxNsSystemLogTest

This tests periodically monitors the log file of the target NetScaler appliance and reports the statistical details about the events that occurred on the target appliance.

Outputs of the test : One set of results for the target NetScaler appliance

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Up_events Indicates the number of UP events that were recorded in the log file. Number The detailed diagnosis of this measure reveals the time stamp at which the UP event was generated, number and code of the UP event, ID and name of the device for which the UP event was generated and the brief description about the event.
Down_events Indicates the number of DOWN events that were recorded in the log file. Number The detailed diagnosis of this measure reveals the time stamp at which the DOWN event was generated, number and code of the DOWN event, ID and name of the device for which the DOWN event was generated and the brief description about the DOWN event.
Other_events Indicates the number of other events that were recorded in the log file. Number The detailed diagnosis of this measure reveals the time stamp at which the Other event was generated, number and code of the Other event, ID and name of the device for which the Other event was generated and the brief description about the Other event .
