Measures reported by HPStOReNASPfTest

In order to optimize bandwidth usage and throughput, minimize congestions, and maximize the replication speed, administrators need to constantly keep a vigil on how well replication is performed on the Network-attached storage (NAS). For this, administrators can use the HPStOReNASPfTest test.

This test reports real-time metrics of the volume of data received by and transmitted from the NAS for replication per second. This test also throws light on the count of target replication job sessions and the source replication job sessions established on the NAS.

Outputs of the test : One set of results for the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system being monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
repRxBandwidth Indicates the rate at which actual data (deduplicated data and meta data ) was received by the NAS for replication during the last measurement period. MB/sec Any attempt made to transmit or receive traffic faster than the allotted bandwidth can result in congestion. Therefore, administrators should ensure that just about enough data is transmitted and received by the NAS to prevent congestion and optimize throughput.
repTxBandwidth Indicates the rate at which actual data (deduplicated data and meta data) was transmitted for the replication of the NAS during the last measurement period. MB/sec Any attempt made to transmit or receive traffic faster than the allotted bandwidth can result in congestion. Therefore, administrators should ensure that just about enough data is transmitted and received by the NAS to prevent congestion and optimize throughput.
repRxThroughput Indicates the rate at which apparent data was received by the NAS for replication during the last measurement period. MB/Sec Any attempt made to transmit or receive data faster than the allotted throughput can result in congestion. Therefore, administrators should ensure that just about enough data is transmitted and received by the NAS to prevent congestion and optimize throughput.

repInSessionCount Indicates the number of target replication job sessions established on the NAS during the last measurement period. Number
repOutSessionCount Indicates the number of source replication job sessions established on the NAS during the last measurement period. Number
