Measures reported by CisSDWInterfaceTest
In the Cisco SD-WAN overlay network, you can configure network interfaces within individual VPNs. For each network interface, you can configure a number of interface-specific properties, such as DHCP clients and servers, VRRP, interface MTU and speed, and PPPoE. You can configure up to 512 interfaces on each component of the Cisco SD-WAN appliance. This number includes physical interfaces, loopback interfaces, and subinterfaces.
For each such network interface configured, this test reports the following:
The current admin and operational state of the interface;
The duration for which the interface was up;
The bandwidth utilized by the interface and the nature of traffic handled by the interface-i.e., packets, data etc.;
Errors experienced by the interface during transmission/reception of data/packets.
Outputs of the test : One set of results for each component:network interface of the target Cisco SD-WAN appliance that is being monitored.
The measures made by this test are as follows:
| Measurement |
Description |
Measurement Unit |
Interpretation |
| Admin_status |
Indicates the current admin status of this network interface. |
|
The table below indicates the values that this measure can report and their corresponding numeric equivalents:
| Measure Value |
Numeric Value |
| Up |
1 |
| Down |
0 |
Note:
By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values while indicating the current admin status of the network interface. However, in the graph of this measure, the admin status of the network interface will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only. |
| Operational_status |
Indicates the current operational status of this network interface. |
|
The table below indicates the values that this measure can report and their corresponding numeric equivalents:
| Measure Value |
Numeric Value |
| Up |
1 |
| Down |
0 |
Note:
By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values while indicating the current operational status of the network interface. However, in the graph of this measure, the operational status of the network interface will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only. |
| Interface_speed |
Indicates the current speed of this network interface. |
Mbps |
|
| Data_rcvd |
Indicates the amount of data received by this network interface per second during the last measurement period. |
Kbps |
Compare the value of these measures across the network interfaces to identify the network interface that is transmitting/receiving the maximum amount of data. |
| Data_txmtd |
Indicates the amount of data transmitted through this network interface per second during the last measurement period. |
Kbps |
| Packet_rcvd |
Indicates the rate at which packets were received by this interface during the last measurement period. |
Packets/sec |
Compare the values of these measures across the interfaces to identify the interface that is
transmitting/receiving maximum number of packets. |
| Packet_txmtd |
Indicates the rate at which packets were transmitted through this interface during the last measurement period. |
Packets/sec |
| Error_rcvd |
Indicates the number of errors encountered when data/packets were received by this interface. |
Number |
Ideally, the value of this measure should be zero. |
| Error_txmtd |
Indicates the number of errors encountered when data/packets were transmitted through this interface. |
Number |
Ideally, the value of this measure should be zero. |
| Interface_uptime |
Indicates the uptime of this interface. |
Minutes |
A high value is desired for this measure. |
