Measures reported by NimbleVolIOPSTest

This test reports how well the I/O operations were performed on each volume and identify the delays in I/O operations. In addition, this test also reports the total amount of data used when performing read and write operations. This way, this test not only enables administrators to promptly detect current or probable latencies in I/O operations on each volume, but will also help them figure out which I/O activity was most latent – i.e., whether read operations or write operations?.

Output of the Test:One set of results for each type of failure event triggered on the target Nimble Storage.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Seq_read_IO_operations Indicates the rate at which data is read sequentially on each volume during the last measurement period. IOPS
Seq_write_IO_operations Indicates the rate at which data is written sequentially on each volume during the last measurement period. IOPS A high value is desired for this measure. If the value of this measure is high, then it indicates that the disk of the Nimble Storage is being utilized optimally. If the value of this measure decreases gradually, then it indicates that there is an abnormal increase in the disk latency.
Random_read_IO_ops Indicates the rate at which random data is read from each volume during the last measurement period. IOPS
Random_write_IO_ops Indicates the rate at which random data is written to each volume during the last measurement period. IOPS
IO_reads Indicates the total number of read operations performed on each volume during the last measurement period. MB/Sec
IO_writes Indicates the total number of write operatons operations performed on each volume during the last measurement period. MB/Sec
totalIOPS Indicates the total number of read and write operations performed on each volume during the last measurement period. MB/Sec
