Measures reported by WapTest

WapTest works on Linux and Solaris platforms only. This test measures the status of a Wap gateway. The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Availability Indicates whether the WapTest succeeded in retrieving a web page via the WAP gateway or not. Percent A value of 0 indicates that the test was not successful in retrieving a web page via the WAP gateway. A failure condition is detected either if there was no response from the gateway or if the response contained the error pattern specified as an argument to the test.
Connection_availability Indicates whether the WapTest managed to establish a connection with the WAP gateway. Percent A connection is considered to have failed if the WAP gateway never responded to a request, or if the gateway's response contained the error pattern specified as an argument to the test.
Response_Time Indicates the time taken by the gateway to respond to the emulated request. Secs An increase in the response time can occur either because the WAP gateway is overloaded, or because the web server from which the web page is being retrieved is slow. More detailed measurements from the WAP gateway (such as requests/sec handled by the gateway, etc) are necessary to diagnose the exact cause of this condition.
