Measures reported by RADLBPSTest

If the power supply units (PSU) on a load balancer fail, the services provided by the load balancer will come to a standstill until such time at least one of the power supply units come back up. It is therefore imperative that administrators spot a PSU failure as soon as it occurs and quickly initiate measures to correct it. This is where the Powersupply Status test helps!

This test periodically checks the PSU status and promptly alerts administrators if a single or both PSUs of a load balancer have failed. This way, the test urges administrators to take immediate action on the hardware failure, so as to avoid the interruption of load-balancing services.

Outputs of the test : One set of results for the Radware Alteon load balancer being monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
psStatus Indicates the current status of the powersupply unit.   The values that this measure can report and their corresponding numeric values are as follows:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Not relevant 0
First PowerSupply Failed 2
Second PowerSupply Failed 3
Unknown PowerSupply Failed 5
Single 6
PowerSupply Failed
Single PowerSupply Connected 7
Single PowerSupply OK 8
Double PowerSupply OK 9

Note:

By default, this measure reports the Measure Values discussed in the table above to indicate the status of the PSUs. In the graph of the measure however, the same is indicated using the corresponding numeric equivalents only.
