eG Monitoring

Control Actions - Modes of Operation

eG Enterprise includes a powerful capability that allows monitor users to remotely manage and control servers from a web browser itself. From the browser, a user can execute commands on a monitored server, run some diagnosis, and initiate corrective actions to fix any problems.

To open this page, click on the icon available in the Monitor tab. Then, select the Remote Control option in the Misc tile. By default, this page lists the agents in the Control mode. When an agent is in the Control mode, commands can be executed remotely on the agent's host. To specify the command to be executed, click on the agent listed here.

To view the agents that are in the Normal mode, select Normal from the Agent mode list box. By default, an eG agent is in the Normal mode. No remote control activities can be performed on a host when the agent is in this mode. To start remote control activities, the agent has to be moved into the Control mode. To change to the Control mode, click on an agent in this page.

To view the agents that are in the Waiting mode, select Waiting from the Agent mMode list box in this page. The waiting mode is a transition mode between the Normal and Control modes. An agent remains in this state for a very short time and finally changes to the Control mode.

To know the current mode of operation of an agent host, specify the Agent IP / Nick name in the space provided. The specified IP and the current mode of operation of the agent host will then be displayed.
