Measures reported by EsxConnectionTest

The EsxConnectionTest periodically verifies the availability of the ESX server, and reports how quickly the server responds to requests. The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Availability Whether the ESX server is available or not Percent If this measure reports the value Up, it indicates that the ESX server is available over the network. On the other hand, if the measure reports Down, it indicates that the ESX server is not available over the network.

The numeric values that correspond to the Up/down states discussed above are available in the table below:

State Value
Up Down
100 0

Note:

By default, this measure reports the values Up or Down to indicate the availability of an ESX server. The graph of this measure however, represents the ESX availability using the numeric equivalents - 0 or 100.

Response_time The time taken by the VirtualCenter to respond to requests Secs If the value of this measure consistently increases, it indicates that the performance of the ESX server is gradually deteriorating. Ideally, the value of this measure should be low.
