Creating an Independent Policy Independent policies are the policies which are not associated to any of the policy groups. Note: Quick maintenance policies are available only from version 4.3 of the eG Enterprise suite. Prior to this version, administrators had to create a policy, add it to a policy group, and then associate that group to one/more hosts/tests/components for alarm suppression to occur. While upgrading to version 4.3 therefore, eG Enterprise first checks whether any policies pre-exist in the previous version. If so, once upgrade completes, eG Enterprise automatically adds two new nodes - namely, Independent Policies and Policy Groups - and related sub-nodes to the tree structure; this has been done to ensure backward compatibility with the previous version(s) of eG Enterprise. On the other hand, if no maintenance policies were created in the older version, then only the Quick Maintenance and Maintenance Analysis nodes will be available in the tree-structure of the new version. To create an independent maintenance policy using this page, do the following: Select Maintenance Policies from the Alerts menu. This will open the QUICK MAINTENANCE POLICY page by default. Right-click on the Independent Policies node which is in the leftside of the panel, then select Add Policy. This will take you to MAINTENANCE POLICY CREATION page. Provide a name for the new policy against the Policy name text box. From the Time Constraint list box , select any of the following options:
Then, add these specifications using the Add button. Similarly, multiple specifications can be added as part of a single policy. To delete a particular entry, select it from the list box and click the Remove button. If you click on the Show All Policies link at the top right corner of the page, all the policies that pre-exist and the newly created policies will appear in the AVAILABLE POLICIES list at the bottom of this page. Using this you can know the policies that are available. Then, click on the Create Policy button. |
