Default Parameters for SysLogAppTest

This test mines the log files and reports number of entries found for each application who logged the entries in the syslog file in the last measurement period.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the SysLogAppTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed. 

  • Specify a list of error or warning messages to exclude from processing in the EXCLUDE PATTERNS. The format is *error or warning messages*. Multiple entries can be separated by comma. This parameter is set to "none" by default

  • Specify a list of error or warning messages to include in processing in the INCLUDE PATTERNS textbox. The format is Name:Value where Value is of the form *error or warning messages*. Multiple entries can be monitored specified as Name1:value1,Name2:value2 etc. This parameter is set to "all:all" by default.

  • Specify the location of a syslog file in the SYSLOGFILE with full path.

  • Specify whether the syslog file is rotating or not in the ROTATINGFILE textbox. True indicates that the syslog file is rotating.

  • Once the above value is provided, click on the Update button to register the changes made.
