Default Parameters for ZoneNetworkTest

The ZoneNetworkTest monitors the network status of each zone on a Solaris virtual server.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the ZoneNetworkTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • In the TARGETS text box, specify a comma-separated list of name:IP address pairs. While the name is just a display name, the IP address refers to the IP to be monitored. This specification will ensure that the test pings multiple IP addresses. For example - mysql:192.168.0.102,egwebsite:209.15.165.127.

  • The size of packets used for the test has to be specified in the PACKETSIZE text box.

  • Number of packets to be transmitted during the test has to be given in the PACKETCOUNT text box.

  • The TIMEOUT text box defines the maximum time (in seconds) that the test waits for the response to a transmitted packet. A response received after the TIMEOUT period is ignored by the test.

  • The PACKETINTERVAL text box represents the interval (in milliseconds) between successive packet transmissions during the execution of the NetworkTest for a specific target.

  • By default, the CONNECT USING parameter is set to sudo. This indicates that, by default, this test uses the sudo command to connect to the Solaris virtual server and pull out metrics. If you want the test to use the pfexec command instead, select the pfexec option from the CONNECT USING drop-down.

  • Once the above value is provided, click on the Update button to register the changes made.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with “$” indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. E.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to “xyz” and $port will be changed to “80” when configuring a test.
