Associating Groups with Components/Hosts/Tests
This page appears upon selecting the Associate Groups option from the Maintenance Periods sub-menu of the Configure menu, and allows adminstrators to associate groups with components/hosts/tests. Such an association will suppress the alarms for the chosen component/host/test during the maintenance periods.
To associate components/hosts/tests with policy groups, do the following:
- From the Please select a group list box, select the group to be associated with the hosts/components.
- Indicate whether the maintenance period applies to a Host, Component, Test, Test for host, or Test for Component.
- If the Host is chosen, then the list of hosts being monitored will appear in the ELEMENTS NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY POLICY GROUP list. Similarly, if Component is chosen, then the list of monitored components will appear in the ELEMENTS NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY POLICY GROUP list.
- Then, from the ELEMENTS NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY GROUP list, select the host/component to be associated with the chosen group, and click on the ASSOCIATE >> button to add the selection to the ELEMENTS ASSOCIATED list.
-
To remove an entry from the ELEMENTS ASSOCIATED list, select it from the list, and click on the << DISASSOCIATE button.
-
Finally, click on the Update button.
- Now, if Test is chosen from the Associate policy group for list, then the ELEMENTS NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY GROUP list will be populated with the complete list of tests that are enabled and are running for all the managed components in the environment. From the ELEMENTS NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY GROUP list, select the test(s) to be associated with the chosen group, click the Associate >> button, and finally, click the Update button.
- Now, if Test for Host is chosen from the Associate policy group for list, then all the host-level tests that are actively reporting measures will be available for selection in the Test list that appears. Selecting a test from this list, will populate the ELEMENTS NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY GROUP list with the hosts on which the chosen test is active. From the ELEMENTS NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY GROUP list, select one/more hosts and associate them with the chosen group by clicking the Associate >> button, and finally, click the Update button.
- Now, if Test for Component is chosen from the Associate policy group for list, then all the application-level tests that are actively reporting measures will be available for selection in the Test list that appears. Selecting a test from this list, will populate the ELEMENTS NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY GROUP list with the components on which the chosen test is active. From the ELEMENTS NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY GROUP list, select one/more components and associate them with the chosen group by clicking the Associate >> button, and finally, click the Update button.
Note:
If a Component is associated with a maintenance policy group, then only those alarms pertaining to the application layers of the component will be suppressed by the eG Enterprise system. The operating system-level alarms will remain active.
