Configuration of F9iSessionTest

The F9iSessionTest monitors the user sessions to the Oracle Forms 9i server.

The default parameters associated with this test are as follows:

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • In the HOST text box, the host name of the server for which the test is to be configured has to be specified.

  • The port number to which the server is listening is to be provided in the PORT text box.

  • In the FORMWORKDIR text box, specify the path to the install directory of the Oracle Forms 9i server. Typically, this will be <ORAHOMEDIR>/Forms90/.

  • In the FORMSRUNTIME text box, the value, "ifweb90.exe", is displayed. This is the Forms server runtime executable.

  • In the ORAHOMEDIR text box, specify the install directory of the Oracle 9i server. This specification becomes more important when more than one Oracle 9i AS installation exists on a host.

  • For Oracle 9i Forms monitoring, eG requires tracing to be enabled for the server. The trace files corresponding to completed sessions are automatically cleaned by the eG agent. The frequency with which these files are to be cleared from the server is to be specified in the TRCCLEANUPTIME textbox. The default value displayed in the TRCCLEANUPTIME text box is 30 minutes.

  • One of the measures returned by this test, is the number of idle sessions. While taking a count of idle sessions, the test will consider only those sessions that have remained idle for the duration specified in the SESSIONIDLETIME text box. The default value displayed here is 10. This means that the test will track those sessions that have been idle for 10 minutes or more. You can change this value, if required.

  • If multiple components of the same component type are awaiting configuration, then an APPLY TO OTHER COMPONENTS check box will appear in this page. Clicking on this check box will allow you to apply the configuration to all/selected components of that type.

  • Once the necessary values have been provided, clicking on the UPDATE button will register the changes made.

When changing the configuration for specific servers, a “*” beside the text box corresponding to the parameter signifies that these values have to be manually configured by the user. The parameter values that require to be configured will typically be prefixed with a “$” or contain a series of “*”. A value of "none" in the parameter value indicates that the corresponding parameter value can be changed if required.

Note:

Before attempting to monitor a Forms server, ensure that its tracing capability is enabled. To know how to enabling tracing for a Forms server, refer to the section on "Configuring Oracle Forms Servers" in the eG Installation Guide.
