Default Parameters for SqlAzuSesResTest

This test tracks the resource usage of the sessions to the target SQL Azure server. In the process, the test turns the spotlight on resource-intensive SQL server sessions and the queries executed by such sessions that may require fine-tuning. Additionally, the test also reports the average wait time of sessions, leads you to that session that has been waiting for the maximum time, and points you to the exact query that the session has been taking too long to execute. Inefficient queries are thus revealed, enabling you to quickly initiate query optimization measures.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the SqlAzuSesResTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • The test uses a database on the monitored SQL Azure server. Specify the name of the database in the DATABASE NAME text box.

  • To monitor SQL Azure database server, the eG agent should be configured with the credentials of a user with the VIEW SERVER STATE role. Specify the name of user in the USER text box.

  • The eG agent should be configured with the credentials of a user to monitor SQL Azure database server. Specify the password of the specified user in the PASSWORD text box.

  • Confirm the Password by retyping it in the CONFIRM PASSWORD text box.

  • If the SQL Azure server being monitored is an SSL-enabled layer, then set the SSL flag to Yes. If not, then set the SSL flag to No.

  • If ‘Windows only’ authentication has been enabled, specify the Windows domain in which the managed SQL Azure server exists in the DOMAIN text box. By default, none is displayed in the text box.

  • In some Windows networks, NTLM (NT LAN Manager) may be enabled. NTLM is a suite of Microsoft security protocols that provides authentication, integrity, and confidentiality to users. NTLM version 2 (“NTLMv2”) was concocted to address the security issues present in NTLM. Set this flag to Yes if NTLMv2 is enabled on the target host.By default, the ISNTLMV2 flag is set to No.

  • Once the necessary values have been provided, clicking on the UPDATE button will register the changes made.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with “$” indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. E.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to “xyz*” and $port will be changed to “80” when configuring a test.
