The network adapter or adapters (also know as network interface cards or NICs) on each node in a cluster enables the nodes to communicate with each other and with clients. This test reveals whether/not there are any network interfaces in the cluster that are not functioning properly.

Each node in a failover cluster requires network connectivity with the other nodes. Problems with a network adapter or other network device (either physical problems or configuration problems) can interfere with connectivity.
