Measures reported by VmkwarningLogTest

The VmkwarningLogTest monitors the /var/log/vmkwarning log file of a VMware ESX server. All warning messages logged in the vmkwarning log file are tracked and alerted on by this test.

Note:

By default, on an ESX server, the vmkwarning log file can be accessed only by a root user. If the eG user is not installed as the root user of the target ESX server, then the eG user needs to be granted the permission to read the vmkwarning log file. To do so, execute the following command on the ESX server: chmod 644 /var/log/vmkwarning.

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Num_messages The number of messages that were added to the log when the test was last executed Number The value of this measure is a clear indicator of the number of "new" messages that have come into the log of the monitored server. The detailed diagnosis of this measure, if enabled, provides the detailed descriptions of the warning messages that match the configured search patterns.
