Measures reported by LVXCPSStatTest

The availability of a server depends on how robust the power the power supply to the server is. Most of the server are equipped with multiple redundant array of power supplies. These power supplies come as Field Replaceable Units (FRU) and guided by power policy are configured in a way to continue server operation even in case of one of more failures of power supplies. XClarity Controller helps manage these power supply and ensure that administrators are able to configure the power supplies for maximum server availability. Given the importance of power supplies in server availability, it is important for administrators to keep an eye on status of all power supplies and in case any powers supply is not working, replace it immediately.

This test auto-discovers available power supplies configured in XClarity controller, and reports the status on periodic basis.

Outputs of the test: One set of results for each FRU power supply.

Descriptor: FRU power supply

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
status Indicates the current status of FRU Power Supply.

If the status of FRU power supply is abnormal, it means FRU is either failed or about to fail. In case it is failed and server is working i.e. the power policy has switched to other available FRU, you should immediately replace the failed power supply. In case the FRU has not failed yet, you should go to XClaruy Controller and switch to another available and working FRU power supply first and then replace the failing one.

The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalents are mentioned in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Abnormal 0
Normal 1

Note:

By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the current status of this fan. The graph of this measure, however, represents the status of the fan using the numeric equivalents only.
