Measures reported by IBMDPMemUsgTest

The DataPower Gateway monitors its memory, temporary file space, and other system resources. The DataPower Gateway responds to low conditions, such as free memory falls below the throttle-threshold, by refusing to accept new connections. If the refusal does not free sufficient resources after the defined duration, that is if the free memory doesnot rise above the threshold, the DataPower Gateway restarts itself. Using these throttle settings allow for in-flight transaction to complete before additional transactions are accepted. Therefore, it is imperative to monitor the memory utilization of Datapower device. The IBMDPMemUsgTest monitors the memory utilization of the IBM Datapower and proactively alerts administrators to potential resource contention.

Outputs of the test : One set of results for the target device being monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Total_memory Indicates the current memory that is available in the device. MB
Used_memory Indicates the amount of memory that is currently used by this device. MB A low value is desired for this measure.
Free_memory Indicates the amount of memory that is available for use on this device. MB A high value is desired for this measure.
Memory_usage Indicates the percentage of memory utilized by this device. Percent If the value of this measure is close to 100%, it is indicative of a memory bottleneck.
