Measures reported by CpVsxCPUUtilTest

The Check Point Smart-1 appliance helps administrators to configure multiple virtual systems in their environment, where each virtual system works as a Security Gateway protecting a specified network. This test auto-discovers the virtual systems in the configured in the Check Point Smart-1 appliance and monitors the current CPU utilization of each virtual system and reports the number of cores in the virtual system CPU. If the CPU resources are found to be consumed excessively, then, this test will help administrators to determine when exactly did the CPU utilization peak - during the last 1 sec? or 1 minute? This revelation helps administrators troubleshoot the CPU spikes better.

Outputs of the test : One set of results for each virtual system configured on the Check Point Smart-1 appliance that is to be monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
CPU_core Indicates the total number of CPU cores in this virtual system. Number The detailed diagnosis of this measure reveals the utilization of each CPU individual core. Administrators can sum the CPU utiliation of all the CPU cores in each virtual system to know the total CPU usage.
CPU_usage_1sec Indicates the percentage of CPU utilized by this virtual system during the last 1 second. Percent By comparing the values of these measures, you can quickly figure out when exactly was the CPU usage maximum. Using this analysis, administrators can further investigate the real reason behind the sudden spike in the CPU utilization.
CPU_usage_1min Indicates the percentage of CPU utilized by this virtual system during the last 1 minute. Percent
