Measures reported by HPStOTrapsTest

Hardware errors/failures, if not promptly detected and resolved, can prove to be fatal to the availability and overall health of the target backup server. Similarly, warning messages serve as early indicators of ‘probable’ failures/errors that can occur on the backup server. This test intercepts the traps sent by the backup system, extracts information related to hardware errors/failures, warnings, devices etc from the traps, and reports the count and detailed description of these trap messages to the eG manager. This information enables administrators to detect current and potential hardware failures, understand the nature of these failures, and accordingly decide on the remedial measures.

Outputs of the test : One set of results for each type of failure event that occurred on the hardware of the target HPE StoreOnce Backup system being monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Num_messages Indicates the number of events of this type that were captured during the last measurement period.   Compare the value of this measure across the events of each type to figure out the type for which maximum number of traps messages were captured.

Ideally, the value of this measure should be zero. A high value is an indication of performance degradation of the backup server.

The detailed diagnosis capability, provides you with a more detailed information about the events that were captured by this measure.
