Measures reported by HostMemoryTest

Using this test, administrators can proactively measure the memory usage of the server, and judge whether/not adequate free memory is available on the target server. By detecting a potential memory contention on the target server at the earliest, administrators can easily avert slowdowns or potential outages of the server.

This test reports how well the target server uses the physical, buffer and cached memory allocated to it, and leads administrators to abnormal memory usage patterns (if any).

Outputs of the test : One set of results for the server being monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Total_memory Indicates the total amount of memory allocated for the target server. GB
Used_memory Indicates the amount of memory used on the target server. GB
Free_memory Indicates the total amount of memory free or available for use on the target server. GB A very low value of free memory is also an indication of high memory utilization on a server.
Buffer_mem_used Indicates the total amount of memory currently allocated for use as memory buffers. GB
Cached_mem_used Indicates the total amount of memory currently allocated for use as cached memory. GB
Memory_usage Indicates the percentage of memory utilized on the target server. Percent
