Measures reported by F10PowerSupplyTest

The Dell Force10 switch comes with redundant, hot-swappable power supplies in each stack unit. The power supplies can be AC or DC power supplies. A sudden failure of the power supplies can cause the switch to crash, leading to critical loss. To avoid this, you need to keep an eye on the state of each power supply unit. This can be achieved using the F10PowerSupplyTest test. This test auto-discovers the power supply units in each stack unit of the target switch and reports the current status and type of each power supply.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Power_supply_status Indicates the current status of this power supply.   The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalents are mentioned in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Up 1
Down 2

Note:

By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the current status of each power supply unit. The graph of this measure however, represents the status of a power supply using the numeric equivalents only.

Power_supply_type Indicates the type of this power supply.   The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalents are mentioned in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
AC 1
DC 2

Note:

By default, this measure reports the Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the current status of each power supply unit. The graph of this measure however, represents the status of a power supply using the numeric equivalents only.
