Detailed Diagnosis

The eG Enterprise system embeds an optional detailed diagnostic capability that provides a detailed diagnosis of certain measures. With this capability, the eG agents can be configured to run detailed, more elaborate tests as and when specific problems are detected. For example, when the CPU usage of a host reaches the threshold, the agent can be configured to provide more details – e.g, the top 10 processes that are consuming more CPU resources. Optionally, this capability can also be configured to generate detailed measures even if no problems occur.

To open the Detailed Diagnosis page, click on the icon available in the Monitor tab. Then, select the Detailed Diagnosis option in the Misc tile. To view the Detailed Diagnosis of a chosen measure, follow the steps given below:

  • Service: Select the service for which detailed measures are required. This is an optional field.

  • Component: Select the component for which detailed measures need to be viewed. You can even narrow your component-search further by specifying the whole/part of a component name in the Filter By text box. All components with the specified search name will then populate the Component list, thus making it easier for you to pick a component.

  • Layer: Choose the specific layer to which the measure requiring a detailed diagnosis is associated.

  • Test: From this drop-down list box, pick the test that generates the detailed measures.

  • If the test is executed by multiple Measurement Hosts, then you can select a particular Msmt Host for graph generation.
  • Measure: From this drop-down list box, select the measurement for which a detailed diagnosis is required. The measures listed in this list box are the ones for which the corresponding test provides a detailed diagnosis.

  • Click the Submit button to retrieve the detailed measures.

To override the default timeline settings of the Detailed Diagnosis, click on the icon. The Settings pop-up window appears:

  • Timeline:The period for which detailed measures need to be generated can be specified by selecting an option from the Timeline list. You can either provide a fixed time line such as 1 hour, 2 days, etc., or select the Any option from the list to provide a From and To date/time for DD generation.

Upon clicking the Submit button, the detailed measures will appear. You can save the detailed measures as a CSV file by clicking on the CSV icon, or print the measures by clicking on the Print icon. You can also save the detailed measure as PDF by clicking on the Save icon.
