Measures reported by DiskTest
DiskTest, which is an operating system-specific test periodically tracks the percentage disk space utilized per disk partition of the host. The measures
made by this test are as follows:
| Measurement |
Description |
Measurement
Unit |
Interpretation |
| Pct_disk_util |
Indicates the percentage utilization of the disk partition. |
Percent |
When the utilization of a disk partition approaches 100%, many applications using the partition could begin to experience failures. |
| Read_rate |
Indicates the number of reads happening on a logical disk per second. |
Operations/Sec |
A dramatic increase in this value may be indicative of an I/O bottleneck on the server. |
| Write_rate |
Indicates the number of writes happening on a local disk per second. |
Operations/Sec |
A dramatic increase in this value may be indicative of an I/O bottleneck on the server. |
| Bytes_read_rate |
Indicates Bytes read per second from the logical disk. |
KB/Sec |
A very high value indicates an I/O bottleneck on the server. |
| Bytes_write_rate |
Indicates Bytes written per second to the logical
disk. |
KB/Sec |
A very high value indicates an I/O bottleneck on
the server. |
|
Note 1:
Please
execute the command “diskperf –y” at the command prompt of a
Windows NT server and restart
the system to obtain the following measurements reported by the
DiskTest.
-
Read_rate
-
Write_rate
The read and write rates reported on Windows operating systems are the total values for all the drives on the system.
Note
2:
Read_rate, Write_rate, Bytes_read_rate,
and Bytes_write_rate are not available on
Linux, AIX, and HPUX operating systems.
