Thin Client - User Billing Report

Many environments bill their Citrix consumers based on their usage patterns. To understand the usage patterns of a particular user, administrators need to know the following:

  • The Citrix servers accessed by a user;

  • The total duration of all user sessions to each Citrix server, and the session type (whether Wyse or non-Wyse);

  • The applications accessed by the user, and the duration for which each application was accessed;

Once the extent of usage is determined, administrators can then proceed to charge the customers based on usage and also based on whether he/she is a full-time or part-time consumer.

To enable administrators to accurately compute the hours of usage for every customer, so that they can easily and instantly bill them, eG Enterprise provides a specialized User Billing Report under the Thin Client category. This report provides a consolidated view of the usage of one/more users across multiple Citrix servers in the environment, automatically computes the total usage hours, indicates the user type, and thus provides a reliable basis for administrators to raise usage bills on consumers.

To generate a User Billing report, do the following:

  • Select User Billing from the Thin Client menu in eG Reporter.

  • THIN CLIENT REPORTS - USER BILLING page then appears.

  • To quickly identify the Citrix servers for which the report is to be generated, you can either search across the multitude of managed Citrix servers in the environment, or narrow your search by browsing the list of only those Citrix servers that belong to a particular zone. Indicate your choice by selecting the Component or Zone option from the Selection by field. Selecting the Zone option will allow you to select the Zone which contains the Citrix servers required for report generation.

  • Next, select the Component Type for which the report is to be generated. To generate a report across all component-types, select All.

  • All components of the chosen Component Type will be listed in the Component list. Select the components for which the report is to be generated.

  • Next, indicate the User Type. The options available here are: Full time, Part time, or All.

  • From the Sort by list, pick the column by which the resulting report is to be sorted.

  • From the Order by list, select whether the report is to be arranged in the ASC (ascending) or DESC (descending) order of the values displayed in the chosen Sort by column.

  • If the timeline specified for the report needs to exclude the data collected during the Weekends, then set Exclude weekends to Yes. If not, select No.

  • Next, indicate the report Timeperiod.

  • Then, specify the Timeline for the graph. You can either provide a fixed time line such as 1 hour, 2 days, etc., or select the Any option from the list to provide a From and To date/time for report generation.

  • Finally, click the SUBMIT button to generate the report.

  • Billing report page then appears.

  • If the All option had been chosen from the Component Type list, then the resulting report will provide a separate section for every component-type managed. In each section, this report displays the following:

    • The Users who accessed the chosen Components (of the selected type);

    • Whether a user is a Full Time or a part time user;

    • The signature applications used by a user (Application Name), the Avg Hrs/Day the application was used, and the Total Hrs for which the application was used;

    • The total time the user was connected to the chosen components (Total Connection Time);

    • The percentage of time the connections to the chosen components were initiated from Wyse clients (Wyse Connection);

    • The percentage of time the connections to the chosen components were initiated from non-Wyse clients (NonWyse Connection);

    • The Primary Connection Type.
